About Me
Hello
My name is Søren Vinther Røgen.
I'm a danish luthier and folkmusician based in Sweden.
I have no formal luthier education, but rather build what I want, need and like myself.
I studied folk music at Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, 2013-2016
I build my first instrument back in 2018 but I have always been modifying musicial instruments for as long as I can remember.
My focus is to create light, dynamic and easy playing mandolin-family instruments, that works equally well at acoustic jamsessions as on big amplified stages.
Options
Popular options include:
Soundport: A soundhole in the side of the instrument for a more open sound and a better listening experince for the player. Adds €80.
Magnetic external backbracing: A external bracing that snaps on the back of the instrument to prevent you body from dampening it, resulting in a better bass-responce and overall volume. Adds €80.
Pickup: I usually install K&K style piezo pickups because of the natural sound. It's a passive system so no need for a 9V battery inside of the instrument.
Adds €90.
Headstock design: My standard headstock is. Christer Ådin, one of the developers of the nordic mandola has been using a headstock design that mixes the slotted headstocks of acoustic guitars, lute-instruments, with the traditional bowed instruments like violins and cellos. I have my own take on this design and the advantages of this design is tuning peg orientation for easier tuning (they are all directed towards the players left hand.) I have both a fully open design and a closed off one, that resembles a headstock of a Lute or violin more.
I also offer a more "traditional" design that is a bit easier when it comes to changing strings.
